Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers understand how journeys work, how places can be read and what thoughtful travel planning makes possible. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a full draft without agreement.

What to pitch

We consider original ideas about routes, travel forms, place-reading, travel history, cultural context and planning choices. Strong pitches have a defined reader, a distinct question and a reason the subject remains useful beyond a passing trend.

What makes a good proposal

In a short message, explain the central idea, the angle that makes it specific and the main points you would cover. Tell us what kind of piece you have in mind and flag any sources, access or specialist claims it would depend on. Please identify work that has already appeared elsewhere.

Editorial fit

We favour clear, measured writing over promotional copy, sweeping claims or destination lists without a point of view. Do not promise firsthand testing or expertise you do not have, and do not include private information about other people.

How to send it

Choose the editorial question option on the Contact page and include your pitch in the message field. A proposal is not a commission; we will consider its fit and follow up if we wish to discuss it further.

Our point of view

A journey is more than its destination.

The route, the pace and the attention you bring all change what a place can offer. We make space for those choices.
